AndRena Nikol's leather accessories are handmade in the USA, in the heart of Texas. AndRena's bags and cuffs combine rugged urban design with exotic leathers and bold colors. Feminine details meet tough hardware to create a line that is edgy yet feels and looks luxe.
We sat down with AndRena Johnson, designer of AndRena Nikol to ask her some questions about her up and coming brand.
When did you start your brand and what inspired you to do so?
AndRena: I started my brand in 2010. I always loved fashion. I was inspired by my parents who were also entrepreneurs.

AndRena: I studied fashion design at Wade College in Dallas. From there I apprenticed with a Master Leather Artisan to perfect my craft. Everything I learned from the Artisan I use daily in my design process.
How would you define your aesthetic?
AndRena: Contemporary minimalism
Describe your process, from sourcing to end product, is your process unique in some way?
AndRena: I study upcoming trends and then start sketching. I then source my leathers and hardware which are currently coming from Brazil and Europe.
Is there a social/cultural/ecological etc…message that you are wanting to express or exemplify with your brand?
AndRena: Bigger is always better...well usually! I love statement pieces and it carries over into my designs. Also, as a mom, I carry a lot in my bag, so it's nice to have the size.
What type of person are you designing for?
AndRena: Anyone who loves a fabulous statement bag and accessories.
Is there something that has inspired you in your life that you would like to share with others?
AndRena: My parents were entrepreneurs. They always made it look so fun and easy. Of course, it's not always easy. In fact, in this industry it's quite challenging, but we always have as much fun as possible.
What advice would you give to other designers or small business owners that are trying to make it in the fashion world?
AndRena: Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals will keep you motivated and ultimately push you towards your goals!
