Meet the Designer: Simulacra a Sustainable Yoga & Athleisure Brand

Athleisure Independent Designers Sustainability Yoga Apparel

Simulacra is a sustainable, organic and responsible women's casual, lifestyle, leisure and athleisure clothing brand, focused on the softest organic & recycled fabrics & thoughtful design.

We strive to add chic to everyday casual wear for active women, to add form to multi-function, and hopefully a little art and love towards empowering communities while remaining accountable to local and environmental sustainability by designing our garments to fulfill our multipurpose needs.

We have also dedicated ourselves to increasing our social impact, connecting with like-minded organizations, and giving you the opportunity to choose which non-profit to support with a portion of our profits. Make an impact. Choose well.

Simulacra

Our brand sources environmentally sustainable materials produced in Montreal, using organic cotton, bamboo viscose, and recycled polyester, as well as recycled nylon manufactured in LA. The cotton is grown and spun in India, GOTS certified. The bamboo is grown and processed in a closed-loop system from China. The polyester and nylon is recycled from the USA. They are incredibly luxurious, comfortable, and beautiful materials. Our clothes are manufactured in NYC’s very own Garment Center and LA's burgeoning manufacturing scene.

Simulacra I

In keeping with our promise to connect with the community, we’ve chosen a few organizations whose missions align with our values. A percentage of our profits goes towards giving, which allows you to choose the specific non-profit that best represents your own values.

Simulacra's community partners:

Through relationships with farms, restaurants, grocers, and manufacturers, City Harvest collects nutritious food that would otherwise go to waste and delivers it free of charge to 500 soup kitchens, food pantries and other community food programs across the five boroughs.

Edible Schoolyard NYC partners with public schools to transform the hearts, minds, and eating habits of young New Yorkers. By integrating hands-on food education into high-need schools across New York City, Edible Schoolyard NYC aims to change attitudes, preferences, and behaviors around healthy eating.

Simulacra

So what are simulacra? Simulacra are representations of a thing, or representations of representations, lost from the original idea. Perhaps in this space of artifice lies truth that can either resonate with the original or completely disavow from it to create something new. We wanted to be honest that everything in the present is shaped by the past and continues to shape the future, paying homage to the influence of time. A proud humility.
