Here are some style tips for how to incorporate sequins into your closet, and achieve an effortless and flawless look every time.
✔︎ Do keep the silhouette simple and chic: When you are making a statement, it's best to choose one key focus point. In this case, the sequins themselves are the statement. So you don't want to overdo it on the silhouette also. A classic sheath dress, sleeveless tank, and a-line skirts work well. These pieces are also a great way to move from day to night without an outfit change.
✔︎ Do choose a monochromatic color palette: We love pastel sequins mixed with neutrals, white and beige, for a super chic daytime look in spring and summer. You'll look completely pulled together with this color story. Or colorful sequins look great with black for going out on the town any time of the year!
✔︎ Do add a classic shoe shape in a neutral color: When you wear sequins don't go with a super chunky or funky shoe unless you are going for a night out on the town in NYC, late night club scene fashion. And then it's all black on black of course! Otherwise, it's best to stay with a more classic sandal or pump in nude. This neutral color shoe goes with everything so make sure you have a few different pairs in your closet at all times. You can thank us later!
❌Don't mix metallics and sequins: This will make too much of a good thing go suddenly very bad and become a fashion faux pas. We love metallics and we love sequins, but never worn together. When you are having a metallic day, keep everything else neutral and matte. And for sequin days, keep everything else simple and modern. A little shine can be added alongside sequins in your shoe for example, a neutral nude sandal with a glossy finish. Or, a 14k gold pair of favorite stud earrings.
❌Don't overload on jewelry or accessories: Speaking of jewelry and accessories, less is more when wearing sequins. You want the sequins to stand out and become the jewelry for your outfit, so accessorize sparingly. A pair of small hoop or stud earrings or pearl bangle bracelet is more than enough. And for your bag, go with a mini bucket or clutch in white or beige leather.
❌Don't wear gold or silver sequins from head to toe: Rihanna may be able to pull this off but for the rest of us, this is usually not a good look. Choose one piece of your outfit to be the statement star in sequins, such as a cute tank top, or a mini dress. Silver sequins look great paired with black or dark denim and leather jackets, suede boots and black tights. Gold looks light and airy and more casual when paired with white and beige accessories and bottoms, and nude shoes and jackets.
Now you are ready to wear sequins day or night, beautifully. 😍
